Winter Solstice is one of the 24 solar terms and is one of the most important
solar terms.
Before the winter solstice, there is heavy snow (December 7-9), and after the
winter solstice, there is minor cold (January 4-6).
The Winter Solstice is from December 21 to December 23.
Northern regions have the custom of killing sheep, eating dumplings and wontons
during the winter solstice. Southern regions have the custom of eating rice balls
and long noodles during the winter solstice, while people in southern Jiangsu have
fried tofu with scallions during the winter solstice.
